BIO

The Duo (four-handed and two-piano duo) was formed in 1998. In addition to attending specialization courses as soloists, Fabrizio Datteri and Nadia Lencioni attended a master class held by Bruno Canino and summer courses held by Aquiles delle Vigne at the Mozarteum of Salzburg, where they were also invited to play in the Wiener Saal. In 2002 they graduated at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro di Imola with the special award “Master”, under the guidance of Pier Narciso Masi.  The Duo met almost immediate success in various competitions: outright winner of the Concorso Pianistico Nazionale “Città di Albenga” and the Concorso Musicale Europeo “Città di Moncalieri”, the duo was awarded the second prize (first and third not awarded) in the International “C. Soliva” Competition of Casale Monferrato, the Concorso Nazionale Coppa pianisti d’Italia of Osimo, International Lamporecchio Competition etc.  In addition to many concerts in Italy, they performed in many concerts above all Europe, they were invited by several chamber music festivals. Some concerts worth remembering: at the University Chopin of Warsaw, at the Conservatory of Barcelona, at the Cultural Institutes in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Hamburg, at the Associations in Paris, Heidelberg, Stuttgart. In 2009 they performed in the United States at the California State University and at the San Francisco State University, and they took piano Masters. They are married together and, for the family commitments that followed the birth of their three daughters, from 2009 to 2014 they had to reduce the activity in duo. Since 2014 they have started to perform regularly again and they have begun to study the various opportunities to play piano four-hands, especially towards the world of transcription and arrangement of orchestral compositions. In 2009 they recorded “Concerto in Duo” (Mozart, Schubert, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Dovrak) for Chiostro Armonico; in 2018 a CD dedicated to historical transcriptions by Puccini for Tactus; in 2021 “Pucciniana”, contemporary phantasies from Puccini for Ema Vinci; in 2022 a double CD with Glazunov’s two pianos end piano four hands compositions for Brilliant. Nadia and Fabrizio live in Lucca, in the historic center, a hundred meters away from the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini.
